QuestionMy Boxer is due to deliver any day now. I have read that I should monitor her temperature because it can indicate the beginning stages of labor. I was told that 98.4 will basically ensure labor within twenty four hours. When taking her temperature rectally do I subtract a degree like I did with my children?
AnswerHi Christina --
You don't need to if you are using a digital device. They are extremely accurate.
Also you have to remember when counting on the temperature to guestimate when whelping will take place, is .... what is your females' "normal" temp?
If it is already a degree or two lower than "normal" it can make for some confusion.
Good luck.
