Nursing dog still nesting

Question
Hi, my siberian husky had 9 beautiful puppies on 10/26/08 we had set up a whelping box for her in her dog create...which in tern she didnt use but used our male dogs create[theyre side by side] she first wanted to have her puppies underneath our bed so we closed off that room from her, then she wanted to have them in our computer room underneath the desk so we closed off that room. Now that she has had her puppies we reopened up the house to her [except where our male dog is] and she still persists at going under the bed and digging and under the computer table and digging, then when she goes back to her litter she doesnt want to go to them we have to coax her back in with treats and put the pups at her tits and then she will stay. She also takes her stuffed toys to these other places shes trying to nest in and starts to whimper, much like she did before having her puppies so I took her toys away. I am wondering if this is normal behaviour for a nursing dog, Ive tried moving the puppies somewhere with more room but she refuses to care for them until theyre back to their create. Also when can I reintroduce my male dog to the puppies? the dogs go outside together but he is baby gated off that side of the house. Thanks
Rebecca

Answer
Hi. Some first time moms are really nervous. It make take them a while to understand what is expected of her. Keep doing what you're doing. Did you take her to the vet after she had them to get a clean out shot? I would get her to the vet for a check up if you didn't. Try to keep her calm, and praise her when she's with her pups, taking care of them. You may also want to close off the house to her until she gets more comfortable. I'd wait until the pups are about 5-6 weeks old before introducing dad. Let the pups get bigger, and watch them closely when you do introduce them. Sometimes, dogs will attack puppies. I'm not saying your boy will, but it has happened, so you want to be really careful.
