stud will not mount bitch

QUESTION: My Lab is 5 years old. She is in estress and I have a 2 year old stud that will not mount her, she does everything from licking, nudging and standing and he will lick her and walk away. He has never breed before and I dont know what to do . She had one litter of 8 pups when she was 2. She is in excellent condition, vet checked up to date on all shots.

ANSWER: How many days along is she in her heat cycle? If she is earlier than her thirteenth day she's not ready. Some male dogs have an instinct about this kind of thing and wont' waste their time. You can try separating them for a day as well. That usually sparks interest

QUESTION: She bled for about 7 days that was about 5 or 6 days ago.She should  be right around 12-14 days in.  I had him in with her for 2 days took him out for 3 days and put him back in. She was alot more interrested, but he was not. He just licked her and was drooling alot. Thanks

Usually they are ready about the thirteenth day. You should put him in with her for a couple of hours in the morning. Rest midday, again put him with her in the afternoon. Do this every other day. I am sure you will have to catch her next cycle.
