Lhasa Apso Pregnancy

Question
My lhasa apso mated with a cocker spaniel on about Feb. 18th. She's only about 4 and a half weeks pregnant but she is already quite large. I'm really afraid that the puppies are gonna be too big for her when she delivers and complications might arise. What should I do?

Answer
HI. When she's about 50 days pregnant, you can take her and have x-rays done. It'll tell you about how many she's going to have, and if there are any really big pups in there. Also, make sure she gets plenty of exercise, and don't let her get fat. This will help to make sure that the pups aren't too big, and she doesn't have any problems during whelping.
