bleeding after puppies are gone

I resently adopted a 2 year old Chihuahua Daucsaund mix. she had puppies about 8 weeks ago. she has ben away from the puppies for about 48 hours.  Today I started seeing blood spots in her bed and on the carpet.  Could she be in heat or is this a sign of something else.

Depending on the size of her litter and the severity of her whelp, so females can spot as their uterus contracts back to size for a months after.

That being said, do you know her heat cycle, every 6 - 7, 9 months?  It's important to remember that you have to include term and weaning in the calculations. So if she had pups let say December 1st, back 60 plus days is October 1.  Her next heat would be the beginning of March. Where we are right now.

Regardless, I would keep her isolated from males for the next few weeks to be on the safe side.  Blood can trigger males to thinking it's mating season.
