diarrhea after consuming placentas, 10 days later

Question
All the puppies are great and doing well, there's just another small concern. Biscuit had consummed all 5 placentas (not that I hadn't tried to remove them, I tried physically twice, but she literally swallowed them as they slipped out of my grip, they're SLIPPERY). She's not dehydrated, I checked, the skin bounces back just fine, but she seemed to be recovering from diarrhea 4 days ago, and now it's back to the day after whelp where it was like, jet diarrhea, the ones that seem to shoot out and all liquid. How long does this last for, as I always hate when my dogs have diarrhea, and the vet usually prescribes something to help, but since she's nursing, don't really want to go that route. How long should she have diarrhea for before I become really concerned?

Answer
Hi Laura. I'm glad everyone's doing well. It's normal for her to get diarhhea after eating placentas. However, if it lasts for a few days, I would take her to the vet. You can give her some canned pumpkin, not the pumpkin pie filling, This will help. You may also want to give her some probiotics, found in yogurt, just make sure it says on the label that it has it and it is live. You can find both at your local health store, or even Wal-Mart, they will work wonders for your girl. I would take her in though to make sure it's nothing serious. Good luck!
