Bassett hound pregnancy

Question
I have an 11 month old bassett hound who finished her heat cycle 2 weeks ago. I have noticed her tits are swollen and she has put on alot of weight around her stomach area and has become even more loving than she was before. People who see her thinks she is pregnant but I am not so sure. Is she geting ready for another growth spirt, a phantom pregnancy or just putting on weight?

False pregnancies are very common.  As long as you are fairly sure she didn't have any chance to mate, don't worry about it.  An intact female is a pain to keep.  Once she is back to normal, strongly consider spaying her.  If you are planning to breed her, start doing some research.  One of the best places is at www.akc.org.  Proper breeding is not easy.
