dog nipping

Question
Hi,
I have a 2 year old Shi Szu that has always been aggressive.   He specializes now in two irritating behaviors. One is that whenever I leave or my wife leaves for work or my wife comes near to me the dog will bark and run after us and jump up and keep nipping us on the butt like "Don't you dare do that".  Do you know what this means?  Where have we gone wrong?
The other thing is that he keeps scratching and biting himself.  We have tried all kinds of medicines and took him to the vet but he keeps pulling out clumps of hair.
I think this dog needs psychological help.  What can you offer?

Answer
Don....first of all, have you had your dog checked out by a vet? He may have a problem with his skin. Also, he may just be allergic to the food he is eating. I use flint river ranch. I actually sell it because i found it to be one of the best foods for dogs with allergies. I too, have the same kind of dog. If you do not do training with them to teach them who the boss is, they tend to do what you have described. I think all you need to do is to hire an in home trainer that can help give you the tools you need and teach the dog that HE is not the leader of the pack...thanks and good luck
Nancy

ps..sorry it took so long to answer, i was still on vacation., thanks again.
