Question
hi i have a yello lab female she is 6 months and this is the first time i have a female and i would like for you to tell me at what age is when she will be getting her first season. i have a male dog that is not a lab and i would not like for her to get pregnant from my dog. can you please tell me thank you and is it true that i have to let pass her first season before she has any contact with a male dog?

Answer
The best thing is to call the vet today and promptly have her spayed.  Get it done now.  Once she starts to come into season, the vet will want to put it off until she is finished.  She could come into season anytime soon, and you will have a big hassle keeping her away from him and any other male.  They will be making strenuous, creative attempts well beyond what you expect to get together.  One little slip on your part, and in 2 months we will have another litter of unneeded mixed breed puppies.  Do you know what you need to do to make sure she isn't injured or infected if she mates?  Yes dogs manage without help, but many females die from infections from an accidental breeding.  Once spayed, you don't have to worry abouther being around any male.

Have him neutered too.
