lap dogs

Question
I am wanting to get a small lap dog.It will not live outside. Which is a better choice;maltese yorkie,shih tzu,or silky terrier?

Maltese and Yorkshire terriers are *usually* much smaller dogs than shih tzus or silky terriers, while yorkies and silkies *can* have attitudes since they are terriers at heart, albeit smaller ones that ended up in the Toy Group. All require regular brushing and grooming to keep them free of mats.

You might also take a look at some of the smaller breeds in the Non-Sporting Group, such as the Boston Terrier (what fun-loving dogs!) and Schipperke, and back to the Toy Group, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are wonderful dogs.

I might suggest that you attend a few dog shows and meet a some breeders and talk to them about their respective breeds. http://www.akc.org/dic/events/search/index.cfm
