whimpering beagle

Hi Mell, we have a 11 yr old femal beagle who has started whimpering in the early hour of the morning, starts around 2am and keeps going on and off until we get up at 6am. Why is she doing this and what can we do to stop it, the neigbours are now complaining.

i dont know why your dog is whimpering at night as much as you dont know.

The worst thing you can do is pay any attention to the dog when it whimpers. I suggest taking this dog to the vet to ensure there is no underlying cause for the whimpering such as arthritis which tends to flare up badly in cold weather. Once you rule out medical causes you need to speak with an animal behaviourist or provide lots of stimulating toys and treats to keep the dog occupied
