Chihuahua aggression

Question
I have a 6 month old chihuahua that becomes aggressive if you fool with her while she is sleeping.  She sleeps in my bed and if anyone approaches her while sleeping, she begins growling and sometimes charges them but only if she has been asleep.  My husband is a night owl so he comes to bed much later than I and on several occasions, she has nipped him.  Any suggestions on how to correct this behavior.

Answer
Clearly she is in charge.  The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts. Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog. Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones. You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat.

Since your husband is atarget of her aggression, he must spend some time working with her.  He might even take her to class.
