Answer
Three meals a day until six or seven months but do not over feed. After six months two meals a day for life. After all, do you eat just once a day??

I cannot give you an answer regarding weight. Did the vet weigh him?  How does he act? Look? If you look at him from the top can you see a nice shape? When you feel him, can you feel his ribs slightly? These are the things that matter.

Get him weighed so you have some idea what he is now so you can gauge hie weight gains as he ages.
