Easting and growling habits of a Sheppard X Border Collie

Question
I have a five month old puppy (Border Collie x Sheppard) and I'm not sure if I'm feeding her too much or not enough.  Logan, her name, has put on a lot of weight but she also gets about 7-9 walks per day.  How much should I be feeding her?
Sometimes when she is lying down on the floor, or on the bed or on the couch and I go to pat her she growls.  Sometimes she will even go to bit you.  Is this normal behaviour?

Answer
Growling is unacceptable alpha behavior. Go to alpha boot camp  (type it into your search engine and it'll take you to the site) to learn how to establish pack order in your home. She needs to work at least three times a week until her tongue hangs out, fetch, running or whatever it takes.
As to feeding at this age she should be eating twice per day as much as she can/will eat in half an hour. Usually they will regulate themselves/
Good luck
