SHIH TZU ANAL SWOLLEN

My 3yr old shih tzu anal area is swollen, just noticed it this morning and this is the first time it ever happened to him.....HELP! IS THIS SOMETHING SERIOUS??? He seems to be fine , when I walked him to poop and chased a couple birds.

Hi TJ - You can see the VET in the morning ... It may be an anal sac infection or a prolapsed anal sac.  Give this baby a warm water bath and place cups of warm soapy water over his bottom.
Please see the vet in the morning.
You may need some antibiotics for this conditon.

In the future ---- feed 1 large teaspoon of pure canned pumpkin each day ---- to avoid anal sac back up or infection...KEEP the anal sac clean by evacuating the feces.
