Poodle eating habits

Question
I have a toy poodle that weighs about 5 1/2 lbs.  She is about 5 months old.  When can I begin to feed her once a day?  Do I wean her off the twice a day?  She is very active
but sometimes does not eat.  I want to get her spayed ASAP.
Is is better to dock the tail?  Are toy poodles really hard
to train?  What is the oz to lb. ratio for feeding? Do I just put out food and let her eat as much as she wants for 15 minutes?  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Veronica :-)

Because your little girl is very active and is a toy poodle, I recommend you feed her 2 meals a day. You can measure out the food if you wish by purchasing a measuring container from your Vet or you can do it a easier way, by feeding her one cup full of dried food or one mug full of meat/canned food 2 times a day.

I give both of my Poodles 2 meals a day. One in the morning and one late evening so the last meal carries them through the night.

Nope it isn't better to dock their tails hun. Mine have both of their tails and I haven't came across any medical problems associated with Poodles not having their tails docked.

Each Poodle has its own acceptance level in regard to training. The majority of Poodles are very easy to train because their intelligent Dogs and they naturally understand out words but some Poodles can be a bit more difficult to train, especially if their hyperactive because they need constant, slow training in one area at a time until they learn.

I leave out Food for both of my Dogs and let them eat as much as they want from their bowl and then throw the rest away (especially during hot weather).

Take care and all the best and please leave me a comment.
