Question

our dog sofie
WE have taken our standard Poodle to the vet and he is somewhat perplexed. She has been in very good shape and all of a sudden she cant hold down food or water. She seems fine after eating or drinking and then as if she going to burp, every thing comes flying out.Our vet gave her meds to stop the vomiting but as soon at we got home it all started again. Back to the vet and he ran blood test, X-rays for foreign objects and ect. His last words to us were "the stomach looks clear, but alot of gas and bowels look fine. Does any of this ring a bell. It reminds me of acid reflex. Your advice would be appreciated.

Answer
Hello Thomas,
It could be Acid Reflex, but its more like something upsetting her stomach somehow.  I haven't heard of anything that sounds like this, but you might try giving her some Pepto Bismol (1 cc for every 7 lbs) to see if this helps any.  You might also feed her some boiled chicken and brown rice for a couple of days.  This is more bland than what she is eating now and may help her tummy quiet down a little.

Give this a try and be sure to make sure she is drinking plenty of water.  If she doesn't seem to want to drink more, try adding some chicken broth to it.

Hope this helps you some and sorry for the delayed answer.
