night time

Question
I have 10 week old male maltese puppy that I just bought a few days ago. Since I've had him he's been going to sleep around 8:30 at night and waking up at around 2:00 in the moring. Should he be sleeping through whole night? Or is this normal behavior for a puppy? Thanks in advance.

Yes this will be normal for a while until he gets into a routine.
Make sure you stick to a suitable bedtime so he does not get used to getting you up.
I have a few tips that may help, When he wakes up and you hear him whimpering go to him say night time now and you could place a warm hot water bottle in a cover in his basket as this reminds the pup of the warmth of their mother and helps them relax another alternative could be a wind up radio on quiet in the basket or next to it as it creates a relaxing noise as the pup is used to hearing mothers heartbeat etc.
I also have a buckwheat cusion from pet stages that you can microwave for heat.
Do this to help encourage sleep throughout the night eventually stop and be firm but fair dont get up for him and he will eventually get into a routine.
If you need any more help please contact me- also try not to give last meal too late as this will make him want to go to the toilet.
