Question
Hi, maggie is 3 1/2 & in good health, 6 1/2 pounds, gets 2 walks a day.  I put her on Solid Gold dog food in April thinking it had more fiber the Euckanuba.  Then started the full glands, the vet empties them every 3 to 4 weeks. She gets no meat from the table.  sometimes a steamed veggie (green beans, peas, plain or sweet potato.)  The vet suggested 1/4 to 1/2/ teas of canned pumpkin daily, which I have given her, not sure it helping.  Can I do something for her?
Thank you so much.

Answer

My Missy / pet nurse m
Anal gland infections in canines;  Maltese digestive problems;
Maltese anal glad ; dog food reviews; Innova Evo dog food ;

Hi -  Well little Maggie's body was accustomed to the junk in the old dog food you were using ( too many junk fillers).... This junk kept her bowels expelling 2-3 x per day.  ( so, no anal gland issues)....
The new food has less Junk fillers and much more condensed quality.
I would add some WET food into the picture-  The Dry Solid Gold with a 2 teaspoon topper of the WET Solid gold , Innova EVO, or Wellness Core canned food.

Also, go to the Walmart or other store and get Metamucil Cookies / Wafers ( Apple or Cin Flavored).
Give only 1/2 a cookie per day - She should eat it!
That will help to keep the anal glads from backing up and needed your vet to express them.

And Last :  1/2 of a NuVET wafer treat per day will help with digestion and her over all health and wellness/
NuVET is Holistic and NOT in the pet stores:
The is the Number one doggie supplement in the USA.
