I am about to purchase a Maltese terrier.  I live in an apartment and am worried about if he disturbs the neighbours with barking.  I have heard that they can 'bark obsessively'.  We will be working during the day, however we will have a dog walker coming in a couple of times, and i don't want him to bark constantly whilst we are away.  Do all Maltese 'bark obsessively' or can they be trained not too?

Hi Kate, Yes, My Maltese is a little barker.  If you do have the dog sitter/walker making 2 puppy visit, you should be ok.  I bet she will sleep in between play times.
I would put a radio or TV on for her.  Make sure she is in a crate, play pen or small doggie gated area.  She will feel more secure in small spaces with a blanket and soft toys.
