Female Maltese Life Expectancy after giving birth

Question
Hello, Someone told me that if you have a female Maltese and she has a puppies, that their life expectancy is shortened to 6 years because they eventually have organ failure. I was also told that if I get her spayed there was a chance that she would live longer.
Is this true? I hope you can clear this up for me as I'm freaking out. I would just die if my baby lived only that long and I couldn't do anything to prevent it from happening.

Answer
Hello Liz - Well, I don't believe that is true.  I have a Maltese and she will be spayed soon because I don't want to breed her.  My girl is 1.5 yrs old now and I will spay her because we just don't want pups.  I don't believe she will live longer just because she won't have pups.
Good food and proper care will make your baby live a good long time past the 6 years you mentioned.

BEST wishes..
