Licking

I have a 3 1/2 year old female Maltese.  And she has recently (within the last 3-4 months) started a terrible and annoying habit.  She sits and constantly licks her lips.  At first I thought it was because she had food in her hair.  But that's not it.  She does it at all times.  My husband thought it was because she was thirsty...but she has continuos water...so I don't think that's it.  Is she possible lacking something?

Yes that could be something to do with it, but i would definatley reccomend discussimg this with your vet as somethimg like this you or i may not know the cause or reason but your vet may have seen this behaviour before, it is always better to be safe than sorry does it seem like they are irritating her in any way?
If this has only started three or 4 months ago it is a change in behaviour for her and like i say your vet may recognise this immediatley, please let me know if i can be any more help/
and also if you see your vet i would be curious to know what he thinks it could be. good luck x
