Purebred Maltese???

Question
I recently bought a female maltese when she was 2 months old from a pet shop. She is now almost 5 months old and very big, she weighs a little over 5lbs. The store swore up and down that she was purebred, and we paid $2,000 for her, not including what was spent for the microchip, etc. She is nearly the size of my male bichon who weighs 12lbs and is 5 years old. If she is not purebred, how can I prove this and what can be done? Needless to say, I love and adore her regardless, but if she isn't purebred than I have totally been jipped out of my money!

Answer
Yes please follow this up there is a lot of trouble with this with pet stores thats the problem with getting them from a store rather than straight from a breeder.
If she is purebred then you should have recieved a pedigree certificate with details of ancestors these must be given if she is Purebred. If not you must demand to see these and say that you intended to show her- as without these you cannot show her. Then you need to contact your local Kennel Club and they will advise further steps to be taken they deal with this all the time. Please follow this up because people cannot just cheat you out of your hard earned money in this way. You never knoe she may be pure bred and just large lol does she look like she has been bred by maltese and bichon because this is common foul play !
Please let me know wont you ! Good luck
