Question
I have read some of your questions about the maltese breed.  We are going to be
purchasing a maltese puppy in about a month.  She will be 9 weeks old.  My son
is almost 4 and I feel that he is ready for a puppy.  I have read and read that you
should not get a maltese if you have a young child.  He is a good boy and very
calm when he is at home.  Do you think getting a maltese is a good idea for us??

Answer
Yes why not?
Of  course you can get one with a young child they are great and your doing the right thing getting one as a puppy.
Remember as you bring him up  all he will ever know is living with children.
But like a child from the begining be firm but fair with him and i dont mean to preach but also teach your son this teach him that puppy has rules like him ie certain bed time food  time etc.
Get ahead with the potty training as if you have a young child the last thing you want is to be coming home to maltese accidents.
Do you have a name in mind lol?
I would suggest a few essentials to buy when preparing for the pup.
Basket and blankets clearly lol, puppy pads and puppy pad spray stain and odour remover for accidents, and soft toys small hot water bottle in cover and a wind up radio lol.
This will help to keep him in his basket without crying all night.
Let me know if you need any more help.
I think your doing a great thing its great for young children to be socialised around pets as it gets them used to them for future.
Best wishes
