Maltese Muscle Spasms????

QUESTION: I have a 6 year old 5lb Maltese.  She has been fed Iams since we got her as a 3 month old puppy.  I give her small all natural treats from the local pet boutique (they specialize in organic treats and foods), she gets 1-2 cherry tomatoes, a strawberry or blackberry every once in a great while, a few select fruits like apples, oranges.  I also sometimes mix in wet dogfood with her dry to add a bit of change.  The wet dogfood is Little Ceaser.  

She is in great health but as you well know, they are very finicky and stubborn.  My question about Avery (the female Maltese) is that every so often she has what resembles muscle spasms on her right side.  She curls up on one side and her rear right leg becomes curled up and stiff as well as her front left leg.  She just stands there on two legs until I can pick her up and calm her down and hopefully make her relaxed.  This spell seems to last about 5-7 minutes or so, but never too long.  

 I have asked the vet and she knows of nothing that could be causing this.  I am at a loss and need some advice.  The most recent spell was about two weeks ago and I have done some searches but found nothing.

ANSWER: Jackie, I was thinking a vitamin and nutrient imbalance, but that is just a good guess.  It doesn't sound like seizure activity...

She is eating a VERY poor Food - little Ceaser's ****
There are some that are much better that she may like.
Innova just started making a good Stew - canned : Wonderful and it is just like a human food...
Innova Flex ( wet ) dog food....

Also, I can suggest some good vitamins or oils.....IF you would like.

QUESTION: I only give her the wet dogfood in quartered sections and only 1-2 times every two weeks.  I would like some of your suggestions though.  Thanks so much.

Ok, I would slowly put her onto a better dry food.  My Maltese girl likes the Innova Evo mixed with some WET innova Flex ( canned food)-
Also, have you see the new dog food rolls?  The are all pure quality meat formed into a roll.  Here is a link to one:

FRESH Pet Select... You can give this food daily - you just cut a certain amount off the log - as per the dog's weight.

Also, I give my baby Maltese gal 1/2 of a NuVET doggie Vitamin per day...... 1/2 is fine for a dog under 8 lbs..
