maltese and yorkie

Question
We have had 2 female yorkies (both spayed) for the last 6 years.  One was a year older than the other, but they got along well and even shared food and water bowls.  The older yorkie died suddenly last Nov. at age 6 yrs. 6 mos.

In Dec. we adopted a female 8 wk. old pekepoo pup who was very lively and wanted to run and play, but our remaining yorkie really wanted no part of it, shunned the pup and seemed jealous whenever the pup got any attention.   In Feb. friends of ours offered to take the pup, so we gave her to them, and she is doing really well in her new home.

Now we are considering adopting an 8 month old female maltese, but don't want to go through the same as before.  Do yorkies and malteses generally tolerate each other?  Do you think if we persevere with a new dog that our present one will eventually accept her?  Do you have any tips on introducing aa new puppy into the family?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Answer
well to be honest i dont think the breed of the dog will matter. your dog may get jealous females are particularly prone to this is she nasty when you introduce other pups?
i just suggest introducting her slowly and playing with them both equally give it a go i would persevere maltese are very friendly
good luck let me know how you get on
