training my new maltese puppy

At this time, i do not yet have my Maltese, but am going to pick him up this Saturday, which is in 4 days. I have been doing a lot of research on how to potty train a Maltese puppy. Jasper, my Maltese, is almost 3 months old, and i would also like a small tip on what kind of brand of food to get him. I live in a small area, so really my only option for food is my local wal-mart. I am hoping to crate train jasper, but am open to other options if it comes down to it. i would to know how to potty train jasper right away, so i can be consistent as possible. i do not work during the summer, so i will spend  most of my time devoted to him, hopefully :). Marie's Missy Maltese Hello Brianne, Please don't use any food from Walmart!  They are very poor quality options.  Here is one you can order and get free shipping to your door:  SoJo's ( I would get the green bag which is grain free)  You will add your own lightly Cooked meats to the SoJo mix.  YOU can make up 4 days in advance of the SoJo and the meat.

For a good treat you can do a Holistic dog treat from the SoJo folks or 1/8 of a cup of cottage cheese ( just a few times per week)...
Also, 1/8  of a cup of plain or van yogurt - just 2 x per week.

NOW - I would get a baby gate - and keep Jasper in a small area when you are not able to watch him / bathroom or laundry room : make sure you PUPPY proof it all.
Place down some wee wee pads or newspaper ---

Take him out every 2 hrs when awake, if this is possible for you.
