5 year old maltese still pees in house;

Question
My 5 year old maltese is adorable, loving and willing to pee and poop outside. He will not pee or poop in his little sleeping area/room. However, any time he is left in my large kitchen , he pees and sometimes poops even if he just went outside. Unfortunately, we're afraid to let him have the run of the house that is carpeted because we're afraid he will pee. He does pee sometimes when he is excited. It's so sad. He is very affectionate and wants to hang out with family members but we have to leash him and hold him when he is in a carpeted area. How can we get him to hold it and ask to go out? also what will take out the continuous stains from where he continuously pees on the linoleum. HELP!! I'VE GIVEN UP HOPE.

Hi Dorna, First off see the Vet to make sure he has no prostate or urinary problems.  Your boy could have a low-grade UTI and needs antibiotic.  Yes, little boys can have prostate troubles, too.
Next, order a male wrap:  Great item to have for a dog that has pee pee stress accidents.
Put a female maxi pad inside the wrap/  I buy the ones for humans - the NO name brand...
Much less money than the ones they sell for dogs/
