QuestionHi, my mother recently bought a male puppy a couple of weeks ago. He is about 12 weeks now. He recently began growling and has bitten two people (myself included. He was not mouthing or being playful. I'm concerned that his aggressive behavior is genetic temperament. It started after his first vaccines when you touched his back or hind quarters. He was brought to the Vet and he said it may be allergies and also his anal glands were full. Is it possible that all this traumatic stuff has made him aggressive. He seemed fine before. Now I don't trust him around me or my children.
Thank you in advance,
Pauline
AnswerWow, that sounds odd.... He could have been in pain with his back side or the anal glands. He is too young to have temperment problems.... I would spread out his shots a little more than the vet likes to schedule them. If the vet says 3 weeks in between I go with 4 weeks. Also, next shots make sure they know he has had some pain and ask about a baby aspirin 81 mg before the shots and the day after.
Also, you can talk to the breeder about your concerns.... Are you sure it is not Bite Inhibition - this needs to be learned:
