Question

I live in the country, one hour away from the nearest store. Everytime I leave for errands, meetings, etc... my dog refuses to poop or pee in his large kennel. My life is trapped by my dog. I can't go out of town for the day, eat with friends, all because my dog won't do his business in his kennel all day long. I'm concerned. Any suggestions? Its kennel has a concrete floor. When I moved the kennel to where some dirt was exposed, he just digs and digs but doesn't poop.

Answer
What kind of a surface does he prefer, grass?  You could try digging some up and putting it is the kennel.  You could also try teaching him to use pavement.  Leave him in the kennel when you will gone a few hours around when he often has a bowel movement.  Come home and and take him for a walk on a paved road.  Keep going on the paved surface.  They can only walk and hold it so long.  Eventually he will have to go.  Lavish praise on him.  After a few lessons, he may decide going on pavement is OK.
