Picking a puppy when you have another dog?

We just bred out female Labrador Retriever, and we are want to keep one of the puppies, but we have heard that if you keep a male they will not make a good indoor dog because they mark their territory. Which is best to keep with a female dog already? Male or Female?

Hello, I have two female dogs and a male dog all altered they get along fine there is no more tension or agresion between the females then the male and the females. If you want a male be sure to Neuter him as soon as possible before he is fertile or your bitch will be bred by her son and inbreeding isnt reccomended at all. Go ahead and keep a female if you want there is really no difference I've noticed as a multi dog owner in keeping multiple females or male/females. Best of luck.
