Question
Karen help please

I rescued a chocolate lab puppy 9 weeks old,,she displayed no signs of a skin problem when I first saw her but after getting her home and giving her a bath in a shampoo for sensitive skin (because she was so young)she started this biteing and scratching on her joints ears and just above her tail, upon inspecting her skin further I found tiny bumps and flaking where she is scratching,I waited two days went to the pet store and purchased a shampoo for dermatitis and bathed her again, she is still scratching these areas two days later and still has signs of the bumps and crusting.
I know you are not a vet but I am hoping in your experience with the breed you might be able to  suggest something or do you think I should take her to the vet?  I am hoping this is a fix I can make at home,,by the way I am feeding her Natures Receipe puppy formula twice a day, no extras, her stool is very loose all the time,,she has a lot of energy and does not seem to be sickly.
I would appreciate any help you could offer,Many thanks in advance.

Answer
Hello Andrew
What you described are symptoms of allergies which is unusual for a 9 week old puppy but it can happen. I can't say for certain what the offending allergen and without knowing the pup's history or having any visual contact, it is pretty hard to give you an indepth course to follow or know for certain that allergies are the cause.
I would suggest however, that you take her off the commercial dog food and feed her raw meats and vegetables. Any kind of raw meat except pork is fine and be sure to give her bones and all. Yes, even RAW poultry bones, or you can use mix it with ground meats. That might clear it up since most allergies are caused by foods. I would also suggest a canine multi vitamin to boost her immune system over all health. Also add cod liver oil, which she may take without a problem, nutritional yeast and lecithin to her diet.
Additionally you can give her homeopathic Arsenicum album 30C giving 1 pellet or tablet every 4 hours for a total of 3 treatments or you can use a specific homeopathic combination for pets, Homeopet and Dr. Goodpet have these combinations available, . Do not allow her to eat for 10 minutes before or after giving her the treatment
Topically you can apply aloe vera gel or vitamin E oil to the affected parts a couple of times per day. Some vets suggest giving benadryl to stop the itching but I don't like giving chemicals of any sort to humans or animals. If I can be of further help, please let me know.
I hope this helps a bit anyway.
Brightest Blessings
