Questionmy female lab has gotten a red lump directly behind her right front dew claw, where the dew claw attaches to the leg. It almost looks like a pad growing. What could it be and should i take her to vets immediately?
AnswerWithout a photo, I can't even guess. Could be anything from a histiocytoma, which is normally benign and will eventually go away, to a cyst (maybe an impacted grass seed), to a tumor.
If it's hard, it's most likely a tumor of some sort.
If it's soft and squishy, probably a cyst of some sort.
I don't know if this require IMMEDIATE attention, but it will require a vet to tell you exactly what it is.
You could try a day or two of soaking the foot several times a day in epsom salts and then wrapping the leg with a ton of neosporin on the spot. If it's a cyst, it might drain itself and heal.
But if you live and run your dog in an area where there are foxtails, you might want to consider a vet appointment sooner than later.
