Question
We have a 7 year old chocolate lab and we have a 1 year old yellow lab. Our yellow lab will not stop trying to hump our 7 year old. Its like he will go into spurts of not trying to mount him. Then our yellow lab will get in this mood and want to hump duke our 7 year old, what ever we do we cant get him to stop he will try and try... Duke is such a nice dog that he allows this to go on he wont put him in his place. So we end up putting jake the yellow lab somewhere so he can calm down... Help!!

Answer
Consistent training for both of them will help.  I would re-do obedience training.  A well trained dog that listens to it's owners will understand NO.  I have several intact males at home who on occasion try to hump the girls or each other, and they will stop when we say NO.

Also, make sure the older dog is calm and not overly excited, as many times another dog will try to take over (ie-humping or aggressive behavior) because they are trying to control an unstable dog or environment.  That's why I recommend reviewing training for BOTH of them.
