Question
Hi my dog is about 2 years old which i got from rescue center & know no history,my concern is what to feed him on how often and how much please?

Answer
If you know what the rescue center was feeding, and he seems OK on it, I would continue it.  Otherwise, almost any of the common brands should be fine.  If you stick to a meat based food such as Iams or Pro Plan, he will have smaller, firmer stools that are easier to clean up. Such chows have a very successful history in large, professionally managed service dog trials.  There is no evidence the more expensive foods are any better for dogs.  Whatever you many hear, it is all based on speculation about the ingredients and marketing hype.

Adult Labs will do OK one one meal a day, but many many choose to divide the food into 2 meals.

Start with a total of 3 cups a day and adjust it as needed.  Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest. You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them. Each dog is different. Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog must have its food and exercise adjusted to its individual needs. Here is a link to a good illustrated guide, http://www.longliveyourdog.com/twoplus/RateYourDog.aspx  Don't be surprised if he seems to want more. It is quite common and leads many owners to shorten their dogs lives byover feeding.
