Great Dane puppies

Question
Is it bad for new puppies to be away from their mother?
I ask because my Dane has killed 6 of her 14 puppies by stepping on them so i took them away so she doesnt kill no more. I am feeding them myself.

I wish you luck. Raising pups on a bottle is a huge challenge for even experienced breeders and vets. Did she lay on them? Are you sure she killed them? Danes need a HUGE whelping box with a rail around it to insure that they do not lay on or step on their babies.
It is MUCH better for mom to raise the babies if that is at all possible.

Perhaps you could have her lie down and nurse and care for them with you there to supervise? Then remove them if necessary but be SURE to keep them warm> Chilled pups cannot digest food.
