Question
Belle, my great dane, is a very good girl. Very loyal, very protective. She's almost 3. Got her as a rescue. Papered, full bred black dane. I'm blessed. Sometimes she gets diarrhea, which she had yesterday. No big deal. This morning, called her to go outside (which she usually gets ME up to let her out). she just sat there. She finally comes and I let her out. She walks outside sorta stiff, tail between her legs, then stumbles over. She gets up, but doesn't relieve herself. I take her across the street because she loves to chase rabbits. She barely leaves my side. Matter of fact, she saw a rabbit but just stood there. She stood tall, like she normally does, but she didn't chase. She does relieve herself (a long No. 1) but her hind legs are shaking. She's about 150 pounds with no hip problems. Took her home and she ate Beneful and plain yogurt (which I give when she has diarrhea). So nothing wrong with her appetite. My fiancee just called to tell me she called Belle over for a treat. She didn't come. My fiancee went over to her bed and she took the treat but she didn't leave her bed. The weather changed last night and I thought that might have had something to do with her inactivity. Don't think it's that. We have 9-week old twins. Belle loves them and we try to provide her with plenty of exercise, affection and attention.  But something is physically wrong with her. Thoughts?

Answer
If you feel that there is something wrong with your dog then you need to take her to the vet. If she is not acting like herself and there is a big difference in her temperament then the vet will be your best option. She may just be having an off day but if it continues then you know what to do.
