Question
I have bought two male dane puppies They will be coming home in two weeks time I have now been told that they will have bonded together and will not accept me as pack leader Also that they will become aggressive towards each other Please advise

Answer
Mary,

A good breeder will never let you buy two puppies out of the same litter. It is not the best idea and someone who knows what they are doing in Danes would have never allowed it. Which leads me to believe that you unfortunately bought your puppy from someone who is more worried about making money then the welfare of the puppies and the family that the puppies will be going to. With two puppies the same age comes double the mess, double the training and double the responsibilities. And yes it is true that usually a pair of puppies will bond to each other and owners will have a harder time establishing a relationship with the puppies because they are bonded to each other. Brothers and Sisters that go home together might have aggressive tendencies but this does not necessarily happen with EVERY pair that goes together. I would advise you to talk to the breeder about only taking one puppy. Then get another one in the future, maybe in about 6 months once you have all the initial training out of the way. If this is not an option then you have a lot of work ahead of you and obedience training is a MUST as soon as possible.

Good Luck!
