How do you know when to put a dane to sleep? I have a 10 year old bitch who is slowing down and doesn't want to go out much, and has started weeing inside, but on the whole she is well and I don't want to see her go just because she is dirty, but how do you know when enough is enough?

I get this question asked a lot, and unfortunately there really is no right and wrong answer. Dogs have this spark in their eyes, and when that spark is gone, or going, that is when it is time. If your dog is not able to hold their bladder and pee on themselves and lay in it...then it is probably time for them to go. But if they are going outside, walking around, eating and drinking normally, as long as you don't see any kind of pain, I would wait it out and see what happens.
