QuestionMy daughter recently bought a puppy who is a medium golden color and has light green eyes and a pinkish nose. The pup is 8 weeks old and weighs 13lbs. She is supposedly 75% Golden Retriever and 25% Labrador Retriever, yet is quite short-haired. Is it possible that she is mostly Golden Retriever but looks like a Dudley lab? We all love her and she's very smart. We wouldn't part with her in any case. Just curious whether we were misled.
AnswerThe Lab look is quite dominant. I see many many Lab/Golden crosses. some of them may have a little finer hair, a wavy coat, and even a little feathering, but most look quite Lab. I don't remember any 3/4 Goldens. it is logical to expect a half Golden to pass on its Lab looks.
Note, Lab/Goldens are not always yellow, and Dudley refers only to the yellow Labs with pink noses. Some have black noses, at least in the summer time.
