Question
Mako
Mako
Hi,
My 7 month golden retriever puppy Mako, is very stubborn when out on a walk...when we get close to being back to the house he sits in the middle of the road or worse lays down and rolls over on his back with all fours up in the air. He used to get up with treats or a ball but lately that doesnt even work. Mako is close to 60 pounds and I cannot lift him and carry him home anymore!!! It is very embarassing when the only way he will get up is when the neighbors come out and I have to ask them to run up the driveway so Mako will follow!  Treats, bones, sticks, balls all used to work...now they don't. I am thinking of resorting to the schock collar I bought but have not used yet!
Please help!!!!!
Thanks

Answer
Young puppies sometimes refuse to walk at all.  This is a good way getting them to move.  Perhaps it will work for you.  If getting out in front and coaxing doesn't get a puppy moving, try dropping behind it and running by in baby steps calling ''Go, go, go!'' In a happy, excited voice.

We had a year old Lab freeze at the top of some terrazzo stairs.  After some other things failed it got her moving.
