Rash

Question
We have an 18 month golden female and a vacation home near creeks and ponds.  Within the last month our dog, Mackenzie, has developed a severe rash on her belly, where the legs attacj to the body.  The vet dispensed antibodies and amild antihistimine for the scratching.  Heat seems to make the rash work.  After a month she still has it?  Any ideas.  Would something more than towel drying after swimming work.  Does she need to be hosed down after visits to the ponds and creeks?

Thanks for your expertise.

Answer
Hello!  The best thing to do is to keep her out of the water until the rash disappears. Keep giving the meds, and if she does go into the water, do hose her down and towel her as dry as you can.  There is something she is allergic to in the water.  Once the rash disappears, get her a baby pool.  This way you can keep the pool water clean, she can get wet and cool off at the same time.  But do try to keep her out of the water until the rash disappears.  Good luck
