Males versus Females

Question
I've been doing some research about the differences between male and female golden retrievers.  I know that there is a difference in look/size but what about temperament? Is there a noticeable difference in personality between the boys and girls?  If so, what are the general pros and cons of the boys and girls?

By way of background, I lost my 12.5 year beloved golden boy last summer and am in the process of adopting a golden puppy.  I thought that I had my mind set on a boy but my breeder (the same one I got my last golden from) only has girl puppies available from this litter.  The timing is right to bring a puppy home but what to make sure that a girl will be the right addition for my family.

Answer
I am not sure I have experience with enough different Goldens to say.  Too many people make the mistake of generalizing from too few examples.     It is possible the males are more demanding of attention, needing petting 12 hours a day.  Have you met the mother or other females from th same line?  What were they like?  While I see many Goldens, the one I know best was a male that belonged to a friend.  He may have been the nicest dog I have ever known, always happy to sit on my lap.  The females I see are very nice dogs too.  I see a lot more of some than others.  The ones that know me better, males and females, seem to respond to attention more.

If the breeder is doing a good job, checking the parents for hips, eyes, allergies, etc., I see no reason to not to get a female.
