Question
I have a 3 year old female Golden Retreiver. She is pretty much a normal healthy dog with her only problem being some allergy issues. We recently swirched her food from a perscription food to the Duck & Potato food from Natural Balance. She does seem to be eating it with the enthusiasm she when eating the perscription food. She loves the treat biscuits of the same type and brand. My question is should I be searching for a food that she likes better or is it just a time thing? We've been feeding her the Duck & Potato food for about 3 weeks now.

Answer
It is hard to say whether Labs or Goldens usually are worse about eating more than they need, and looking for more.  If she has not been a ready eater, she may be overweight.  Check her using the method explain here, http://www.puppychow.com/products/popup_body_condition.aspx  If she is too heavy, cut back a little or give her more exercise.  I just learned about ''Free style dancing'', see http://landofpuregold.com/freestyle.htm  Note, I have not verified that isn't one more kooky dog site.

If the duck and potatoes is working, I would stick with it.  I once had to go to Science CD to stop bladder infections.  The vet would only start with a small bag until I saw if she would eat it.  I tried to explain her grandfather was named Hoover and passed the eating habits on that earned him his name.
