Golden Retriever home grooming

Question
We have a 1 year old golden retriever and now that his hair has grown long and wispy we would like to know if we can cut it so he doesn't get so much mud and burrs in it, especially under his tail, the back of his legs, and his stomach.

We don't mean grooming for a show, just for staying clean and healthy.  thanks.

Answer
Hi Don!

Yes. you can trim your dogs hair. I do it all the time. Just make sure you have two people...one to hold the dog and the to trim the fur. Be very careful not to get to get to close to the body to prevent from cuttin his skin. Make the fur between your fingers and cut at your fingers...just like the hair dressersn do to your hair.
