Sleeping through the night

Question
Hello, we have a nearly 10 week old male golden retriever. He wakes up 2 - 3 times a night crying. We assume that most of it is his need to go to the toilet - so we take him outside to let him do his business. However, once he is finished and we put him back to bed he takes a long time to settle down again and stop crying that we have left him. Can you suggest methods for encouraging him to go back to sleep more quickly and even sleep longer through the night?

Answer
You may want to have a few "crate only" toys that you give him when he goes back in.
