2 yr. old female golden is peeing on the carpet!

My 2 year old female golden has started peeing on the carpet, sometimes up to 2 times a day!  She is not spayed and I am wondering if this has something to do with that. She has always had accidents, whereas my males dogs never do.  For the past 4 nights she has peed on the carpet twice while we were sleeping.  I always let her out prior to bedtime and make sure that she actually goes, but she still has accidents.  Any ideas?  Oh, and could you recommend a good carpet cleaner?  Thanks.

Yes, go ahead and spay her.  It sounds like a challenge to your leadership.  The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts.  Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog.  Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones.  You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class.
