Question
Hi!
My 11 month old golden retriever, Sherman, has a strange look to his coat. He is very furry since it's winter here, but from mid shoulder down to his butt, there is a straight line of short, very course hair, it literally looks like someone took the clippers to that one area on him. There is a significant demarcation between his furry spots and this. It just started a few days ago, or we seemed ot notice it in the last few days. He is acting like himself, eating, playing, running, loving, doing all normal things, no significant itching...Anyway, my question; Is this his adult coat coming in early?
Thank you for you time,

Answer
Hello -  I am sorry for the delay in answering your question, as I was ill for a number of days.

Well, for Sherman's coat how about offering some PURE salmon oil - 1 tablespoon per day mixed into his food.  Yes, this could be the Adult coat starting to appear.
If you can find the Grizzley Salmon oil at the pet store, it is my favorite brand.
Just make sure you are getting Pure Salmon oil....

Next, get a undercoat brush from the pet store.  This type of brush looks like a small rake.
It will take any dead fur out of the under coat.  I would do this at least 1 x per week.
MORE often in the Warm summer months.

Many of my clients take NuVET wafers / You may want to start Sherman on 1 wafer per day.
GREAT for skin and coat but helps hips and joints, too.
NuVET also helps to keep the fleas away in the spring and summer!
That's a big plus....

Call 1-800-474-7044 ask for the NuVET Plus vitamins.
http://www.nuvet.com/81098

They make the wafers in a bottle of 30 for 20.00 ; or you can get 60 for 39.00
If you use order code 81098 you can get the 15% Off program on every bottle.

I hope this helps... Again, sorry for the delay in answering you.
