Barking and crate

Question
We have a ten week old Golden Retriever.

How can we get her to sleep through the night sooner?

And what do you recommend when we put her in her crate and she barks...
We do not want a barker.

Thank you---for you for your time.

Answer
10 weeks is iffy on making it over night.  Just before bed time, take her out.  Keep her moving until she starts sniffing out one of those perfect spots.  Praise her and let her run around some more.  Then take her in and put her in the crate.  At bed time, with a new puppy, I have found lying down in front of the crate like you were going to sleep and speaking softly to it, or singing, until it settles down and goes to sleep works very well.  Follow the pattern, a period of active play, outside to eliminate, and then into the crate.

One other thing is to cut off the water a few hours before bed time.
