Question
Hey,

Yes it was me who sent you earlier. But my dog is 44 days today, isnt he still too young to know what he is doing?
And like i said i couldnt find a crate big enough for a retirever here so i setteled with a big wooden one which he hates and i cant get to sleep in. Also about the bed he never gets off and when i yell at him he doesnt seem to understand or care and find a way back up on the bed again.
Should i just wait and see or there anything i can do about his stubborness now? Im afraid if it continues like this i wont have any control over him in the future.

Answer
Even such a young puppy doesn't change that much is a few days.  Behaviorists say never remove a puppy from its litter before 42 days.  The dog guide school I raise puppies for likes sending them home about 49 days, although I have picked up a couple a few days sooner.  They are hard to work with at that age, with very small bladders.  Following the directions I gave you yesterday, you should be able to have the puppy out at the right time part of the time.

You need to be firm now, or expect to have the dog sleep with you the next 15 years.  I have had very good luck with that lying down in front of the crate trick.  You might want to pick up a smaller crate for now.  Many people insist they work better with the smaller puppies.  The wooden one could be a problem as she get a little older and starts chewing it.
